Beginning in 2026,
the National Poppy Campaign will run
October 24–November 11

Dear Branch Presidents and Poppy & Remembrance Chairs,

The Dominion Executive Council has approved a standardized annual period for the National Poppy Campaign.

Beginning in 2026, the campaign will run each year from October 24 through November 11.

Previously, the campaign began on the last Friday in October and varied from 12 to 18 days. Consistent annual dates will provide greater certainty and reduce the impact that weekends, business hours and local circumstances can have during a shorter campaign.

Benefits of a consistent campaign period

• more opportunities for Canadians to obtain and wear a Poppy
• more time to collect donations in support of Veterans and their families
• greater certainty for businesses, schools and community organizations planning their participation
• improved national coordination and public messaging

Supporting campaign volunteers 
 

The campaign period provides many opportunities to involve members in supporting the Poppy Campaign. Offering small, manageable ways to help can encourage more volunteers to take part.

Branches may wish to:

• offer short shifts, such as two-hour time blocks, and single-shift opportunities
• schedule volunteers in pairs to make shifts more welcoming and enjoyable
• invite Centenary members to volunteer alongside experienced members
• offer a variety of tasks such as delivering Poppy Boxes, staffing a location or collecting boxes

The Poppy Campaign is a meaningful way for members to meet others, become involved in their Branch and take part in one of the Legion’s most important traditions.
