Do you qualify for the Legion’s class action lawsuit?
This June, Lerners LLP has filed a proposed class-action lawsuit on behalf of Legion Branches against Aviva Insurance for denying coverage of lost business income due to COVID-19. This lawsuit applies to all Branches outside of British Columbia. If you would like to get involved or learn more, please read the FAQ prepared by our legal team to see if your Branch qualifies and how you can participate.

Amendments to General By-Laws
The General By-Laws have been amended, as approved by the Dominion Executive Council in June 2020. Please review the following revised amendments and update your copy of the By-Laws.
Section 1001: A provincial convention for each Provincial Command shall be held annually or biennially as determined by the Provincial Command, at such time and place as the Provincial Command may decide. However, in exceptional circumstances with the consent of Dominion Command, the interval between provincial conventions may be extended as appropriate.

The Dominion Command Sports Committee is looking for interested Branches to host the 2023 and 2024 Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships. Partner with your local municipality to showcase your community, raise the profile of your Branch and support young Canadian athletes.

The Royal Canadian Legion is proud to sponsor the Navy Bike Ride’s Battle of the Atlantic Challenge, and Canada Army Run – both virtual events that support our military members and their families. Encourage your members to sign up!
Navy Bike Ride runs throughout the summer. Registration is FREE and Legion members and their families can sign up any time and join our Legion Team! Visit navybikeride.ca to register, then select ‘Open’ teams, and then Legion.
Canada Army Run runs 12–20 September. Legion members can get a discount of $5 off their registration fee! Sign up at Armyrun.ca and use promotion code LEGION.

2021 Renewal Stickers
The 2021 membership card renewal stickers will arrive at Branches the week of August 24.
Keep your members connected
The COVID-19 crisis has made it clear that times are changing. Online information and services have become more important. Are you and your members receiving the monthly members newsletter? Make sure your members have their emails addresses listed on their member profile, or email them to us using this Excel template.
Sign up for Direct Deposits from Legion National Headquarters
Sign up to receive Branch payments from Legion National Headquarters through direct deposit to your bank account by completing the attached Direct Deposit Form. No more bank runs or waiting for your cheque to arrive! Simply download and complete the form and email it to DirectDeposit@legion.ca.
