National Legion Week returns this September
After a successful inaugural celebration in 2023, National Legion Week returns this September to highlight the contributions of Branches across Canada, underscore the Legion's commitment to Veteran support, and welcome new members to our halls. Starting Sunday, September 15, our week‑long celebration stems from a tradition that some Provincial Commands and local Branches have honoured since the 1980s.
For more information on National Legion Week, please see the All‑Branch email enclosed below.

Portrait of King Charles III
The official Canadian portrait of His Majesty King Charles III provided by Buckingham Palace has not yet been received through Canadian Heritage.
We are aware of offers circulating of interim portraits available for purchase. As the King must approve of his official portrait and currently available photos may inaccurately portray His Majesty, we discourage Branches from procuring unauthorized portraits, and advise to only source the Official Portrait through the Government of Canada.
We will notify Branches once the official Canadian portrait is available.

Available from Supply: Plant‑able greeting card embedded with Poppy seeds!
This card is a great way to show someone you care! When the paper is planted in soil, the embedded seeds grow as it composts, leaving behind beautiful Poppies with no waste. The 5” x 7” card is blank inside, and uses biodegradable, plant‑able eco‑paper made from post‑consumer and post‑industrial paper waste, which means that no trees were harmed to make it.
Planting instructions are on the back of the card. An envelope is included.

PR Tip of the Month:
Timeliness with media is key
Get back to media quickly, even just to indicate you’re looking into their request, and then follow up. If you can’t participate, let them know ASAP and suggest other contacts or organizations if appropriate. Discuss with a zone commander or Provincial Command if the request involves a challenging issue.
Have questions or need advice? Contact your Command Public Relations Officer or Nujma Bond, Dominion Command Communications at nbond@legion.ca
