2020 Poppy Campaign and Remembrance Day activities
In a recent letter to Branches, the Dominion President has written a message on the importance of the Poppy Campaign and ideas on how to deliver the campaign amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Branch participation in the campaign can be done in many ways – not just scheduling members to physically be somewhere with a Poppy tray. The Dominion Command P&R Committee has made arrangements with a number of national corporate partners, including Tim Hortons and Starbucks, to allow Branches to drop off a Poppy tray at their locations instead of having members in person. This will alleviate the concern of hesitant Branches. This and other updated information is available here.

Resources and tips to support your Membership Chair
Message from Your Dominion Membership Committee
We need your help!
During the September Committee Meetings, The Committee discussed the challenges with membership renewals under the current pandemic.
With many Branches still limiting their times of business operation, the Committee is recommending all Branches encourage personal outreach to each member to renew for the upcoming year while simultaneously collecting email addresses and phone numbers. Use this helpful Excel template to collect emails and send it to Member Services to update your member profiles.
Personal outreach is critical for membership renewal success under our current pandemic operating limitations.
Thank you!

Scam education videos through Home Equity Bank

Online scams disproportionately target seniors — and due to COVID-19, the number of scams is only increasing. Working with famous conman-turned-security-consultant Frank Abagnale (whose life inspired the book and film Catch Me If You Can), Home Equity Bank has created a series of videos aimed at teaching older Canadians how to spot and prevent the most common scams.
All the videos can be found on Home Equity’s Catch the Scam landing page (available in English), as well as other great fraud prevention resources including blogs, interviews and more.
Study looking for Veteran participants

Jeremiah Buhler, 2016 recipient of The Royal Canadian Legion's annual $30,000 Masters Scholarship from the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research, is looking for Veterans to participate in a research study that examines the different variables associated with chronic pain to better understand how it develops and is maintained.
This study focuses on a specific sub-group not yet been examined in the existing research. Studies of other sub-groups within the Veteran population are planned for a later date.
Please share this opportunity with your members.
