Reminder: Promote the members sweepstake
The Legion’s member sweepstake, promoted in the July/August issue of Legion Magazine, offers members a chance to win $5,000 in VIA Rail travel when they provide their email address at Legion.ca/email.
Promote the sweepstakes by sharing the attached poster. Branches with member emails can also enter their members by submitting a list of emails to Member Services using the attached Excel file template.
Host Operation VetBuild at your Branch
The Legion’s Operation VetBuild, a peer-to-peer program to support Veteran well-being through model-building, officially launched in June!
As the program expands nationally, we are looking for Legion Branches across the country who would like to host the program at their location. Contact Craig Hood, Chair, BSO Legion OSI Special Projects at craig.hood@bsovetsosi.com for more information.

Watch the Legion Nationals live!
For over 50 years, The Royal Canadian Legion has supported young Canadians through training and competition in track and field. The Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships are the country’s only nationwide competition for U16 and U18 athletes, many of whom go on to compete at the Olympics!
This year’s championship is in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia from August 9 to 11. Show your support by following the action on our live stream throughout the weekend and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

D-Day pins authorized for Legion Dress
The Dominion Executive Council has authorized the Legion’s D-Day Commemorative lapel pin for wear on Legion Dress until December 31, 2019. It is permitted to be worn on the right lapel of the Legion blazer along with the current “We Support Our Troops” lapel pin.
To order your pin, contact the Legion Supply Department.
Process your 2019 member renewals by July 15
Ensure your renewing members receive their 2020 renewal stickers. Process online or send in your 2019 member renewals by July 15, 2019 to receive their 2020 stickers. Stickers will be mailed to Branches end of August 2019.

PR Tip of the Month
Understand Legion policies
Ensuring a good understanding of Legion policies and processes will help prevent PR nightmares down the road. Whether booking venues or using the Poppy image, it’s important for all Public Relations Officers and/or other volunteers and staff who interact with external audiences to know the rules.

 Your Legion online
The Legion’s new Member Services Website is a gateway to convenient branch-specific and membership information and services, including simplified new member sign-ups and renewals.
Branches can login to portal.legion.ca with the username and password provided.
Reminder: Branches are required to remit per capita tax at least monthly
Make sure your paid members are in good standing! Legion General Bylaws, Section 1205 (Branch Returns) states: Each branch shall: a. Remit at least monthly to Dominion Command a per capita tax payment of all tax collected during the preceding month.
With a number of provincial conventions coming up, remitting per capita tax each month ensures attending members are in good standing. Please make sure you are keeping your member records up-to-date.
Make membership renewal easy for your members!
87% of Branches provide over 230,000 Legion Members with the opportunity to renew their local Branch membership online. Please ensure your Branch Rates are entered and up-to-date.
